Perséfone
É uma obra inspirada na história de Perséfone, uma deusa grega que passava metade do ano no mundo inferior e a outra metade na superfície. Ela foi realizada ao longo de um ano e mistura técnicas de gravura em metal, bordado livre e aplicação de diferentes materiais.

Persephone
It is a work inspired by the story of Persephone, a Greek goddess who spent half the year in the underworld and the other half on the surface. It was made over the course of a year and mixes metal engraving techniques, embroidery and other materials.

Perséfone passava metade do ano na superfície com sua mãe, nos períodos da primavera e verão, e a outra metade, no submundo com seu marido, durante o outono e inverno. Vivia em um trânsito constante entre profundezas e superfície.
Persephone spent half the year on the surface with her mother, during the spring and the summer, and the other half in the underworld with her husband, during the fall and the winter. She lived in a constant movement between the depths and the surface.
Costumo sempre me lembrar da história de Perséfone. Uma deusa grega que foi raptada por Hades, o deus do mundo inferior, tornando-se, posteriormente, sua esposa. Sua mãe, Deméter, a deusa da fertilidade e da colheita, inconsolada, moveu céus e montanhas para reaver a filha. Sua tristeza e fúria era tão grande que afetou toda a produção de alimentos na Terra, deixando a população com fome. Zeus, preocupado com a situação, obrigou Hades a devolver Perséfone à sua mãe.
Perséfone sabia que, enquanto estivesse no mundo inferior, não poderia comer nada que estivesse lá, pois, caso o fizesse, estaria presa àquele lugar para sempre. Mas de forma engenhosa, antes que Perséfone retornasse ao lar, Hades a convenceu a comer uma romã, o que a deixou conectada a ele para sempre, tornando-se rainha ao seu lado. Assim, ela passava metade do ano na superfície com sua mãe, nos períodos da primavera e verão, e a outra metade, no submundo com seu marido, durante o outono e inverno.
I often recall the story of Persephone. A Greek goddess who was kidnapped by Hades, the god of the underworld, and later became his wife. Her mother, Demeter, the goddess of fertility and harvest, was inconsolable and moved heaven and earth to get her daughter back. Her sadness and rage were so intense that it affected all food production on Earth, leaving the population hungry. Zeus, concerned about the situation, obliged Hades to give Persephone back to her mother.
Persephone knew that while she was in the underworld she couldn't eat anything that was down there, for if she did, she would be trapped in that place forever. But cunningly, before Persephone returned home, Hades convinced her to eat a pomegranate, which bonded her to him forever, making her queen by his side. Thus, she spent half the year on the surface with her mother, during the spring and the summer, and the other half in the underworld with her husband, during the fall and the winter.
