Esse quilt narra a história de uma mulher em uma longa travessia, durante a qual ela coloca seu corpo em diversos lugares e posições, como em um ritual, e que, ao fim, a transforma de mulher em mulher-mãe. Essa travessia ou ritual é o que também chamamos de parto.

This quilt tells the story of a woman going on a long journey, during which she places her body in various locations and positions, like in a ritual, which eventually turns her from a woman into a mother-woman. This journey or ritual is what we also call childbirth.

Não sei dizer quanto tempo havia passado, mas já tinha visto sol e lua mais de uma vez. A maré tinha se acalmado um pouco, mas por vezes me sentia jogada em alto mar novamente. Ainda estava muito longe da terra firme, muito longe de um fim. O mar parecia infinito e as vezes achava que não aguentaria uma nova tempestade.
I cannot say how much time had passed, but I had seen the sun and moon more than once. The tide had calmed down a bit, but sometimes I felt like I was being thrown out to the sea again. It was still a long way from mainland, a long way from an end. The sea seemed endless and sometimes it seemed like it couldn't handle a new storm.
